The geographical location, raw materials and commercial goods available in Central Africa and the German Kingdom, as well as the presence of ports, markets and industrial goods in the coastal cities under Roman control, the workforce on both sides and the roads linking the north and south were among the most important factors that led to the change of the hostile relationship to peaceful relations between the Garamantes and the Romans; because the Garamantes were not able to dispense with the markets and commercial ports of the coastal cities; because they were the natural outlet for their commercial activity and the centers of connection between them and the ports of the Mediterranean Sea. As for the Romans, they were also able to dispense with the raw materials and goods available in Central Africa, which their commercial caravans were not able to reach except through the mediation and protection of the Garamantes.
